Hello! We are the Murray Family (Ian, Treena, Haley & Ava).
The past two months have certainly been difficult for everyone, including us Murrays.
My husband Ian has been working the frontline protecting his residents at the retirement home he runs in Chatham; our oldest daughter Haley had to cancel her trip to Ireland with friends and will miss out on the opportunity to work at Disney World this summer; our youngest daughter Ava is missing her friends from school & dance and won’t have the chance to experience the infamous “Muskoka” trip that most middle-school kids look forward to; and I, unfortunately, suffered the sudden loss of my aunt (my Mother’s sister) to this horrible, horrible virus.
But through it all, one thing has remained; our undeniable FAITH and LOVE for God!
Because of this, we are living each day to the fullest and have formulated the following list of POSITIVE outcomes of this pandemic; things that we rarely had the opportunity to enjoy together previously due to our “hectic lifestyles” …
▪ eating dinner, together as a family, 7 days a week (including Take-Out-Tuesday to support local businesses)
▪ watching mass together on TV or online
▪ getting some much-needed fresh air and exercise by walking our dogs Pippi & Millie
▪ enjoying family game nights (even Ian, who HATES playing board games, participates)
▪ weekly drive by visits with our extended family (6 feet apart of course)
▪ binge-watching TV like Netflix’s “Tiger King” (LOL)
Our time together has opened our eyes to what’s truly important in life. It’s not about the dream jobs, the fancy possessions, the never-ending calendar of events.
It’s the simple things that count; in fact, when all this craziness is over, I think we may continue with these non-traditional traditions.
God Bless all of our Parish family; looking forward to seeing you again soon!
