Hi! We’re the Mastromattei Family (John, Abby, Cora, Stella and Enrico).
At the beginning of this pandemic the uncertainty of what a “quarantined” life would be like brought on all kinds of emotions for all of us. The kids were worried about not seeing their friends, teachers, family and teammates. My son’s first communion was also postponed. We wondered how we were going to manage, when it might end and how we could stay sane. One thing we knew for sure is that HOPE, FAITH and LOVE would get us through it. One of the first projects we did together was paint our front window with these words to remind us and those who walk by that we will get through this with these three virtues in mind.
As a family we have enjoyed and worked through SO many things that the list goes on and on and on....but the one thing that stands out for us and we look forward to each night, is the preparation of and eating dinner without having to rush out or in. During this time we dance, ask each other funny questions, play dinner games, bring up thoughtful topics and laugh a lot!
The teachers at St. Rose have been a beacon of hope for the kids as well. They have put smiles on their faces and have been there for our kids, keep them engaged with prayers, lessons and stories of hope along with video messages and parades.
We have learned as a family to stay positive and to be grateful that we have this time with each other. Our busy lives have slowed down and we have accepted this as a gift. I believe we have renewed our faith, hope and love as we have truly seen communities around the world come together during this time. We will continue to pray for our leaders, frontline workers and those affected by COVID-19. Thank you Ms. Christine and the North Central Windsor Catholic Family of Parishes for keeping us connected.
God Bless and Stay Safe!
